Stellungnahme des AStA vom 16.08.2021

Im Juli wurde bekannt, dass der Bundeswehroffizier Franco A., der unter Terrorverdacht steht, an der Goethe-Universität eingeschrieben ist. Aktuell steht er vor Gericht, weil er Sprengstoff, Waffen und Munition besaß (bzw. besitzt) und Terroranschläge geplant hatte (bzw. plant). Seine Gesinnung ist unzweifelhaft nationalistisch, rassistisch und menschenfeindlich. Das rechtsextreme Netzwerk aus Polizist:innen und Soldat:innen, von dem er Teil war, bereitete sich auf den "Tag X" vor, sprich den faschistischen Umsturz. Zudem ist Franco A.s Verehrung von Hitler sowie seine Begeisterung für antisemitische und rassistische Verschwörungsideologien bekannt. Auch dass er eine "Todesliste" mit einigen Namen von linken und sozialdemokratischen Politiker:innen darauf erstellt hatte, ist kein Geheimnis. [1] Wenn Franco A. bis zum Wintersemester, das in Präsenz geplant ist, nicht in Haft ist, müssen Konzepte zum Schutz der Menschen vorliegen, meint die AStA-Vorsitzende Kyra Beninga. Die Jura-Studentin Bella Launer fügt hinzu, dass sich in einem Seminar mit einem gewaltbereiten Rechtsextremisten wohl kaum mehr offen diskutieren lässt. [2]
Wir schließen uns diesen Kritiken an und solidarisieren uns mit dem AStA der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt. Der Schutz aller Studierenden, insbesondere derjenigen, die nicht in das Weltbild von Rechtsextremen passen, sollte eine Selbstverständlichkeit sein - ebenso wie die nicht nur verbale, sondern praktische Positionierung jeglicher gesellschaftlicher Institutionen gegen Rechts. Auch in diesem Fall, bei dem die rechtsextreme Ideologie so offensichtlich und die Gefährdung der Studierenden so groß ist, darf nicht weggeschaut werden. Neben der großen physischen Bedrohung, die von Franco A. ausgeht, sehen wir die Beeinflussung der universitären Diskussionen durch ihn in eine antidemokratische, latent rassistische Richtung als nicht zu unterschätzende Gefahr. Daher braucht es ein Umdenken beim Präsidium der Goethe-Universität. Leere Worthülsen über eine vermeintliche Positionierung gegen "extremistische und terroristische Einstellungen" [3] bringen nichts, solange keine Maßnahmen ergriffen werden und die Jura-Studierenden nicht ohne Gefahr um sich und Kommiliton:innen studieren können. Den Verweis auf die Strafverfolgung als ausreichendes Mittel halten wir übrigens, wie auch aus unserer Stellungnahme zu sexualisierter Gewalt hervorgeht, [4] für absolut ungenügend. Das Bedürfnis, sicher und ohne Gewalterfahrungen zu studieren, ist nicht erst vor dem Hintergrund einer rechtskräftigen Verurteilung valide. Wenn der Goethe-Universität etwas an ihren Studierenden (vor allem ihren rassifizierten und jüdischen Studierenden) liegt, muss sie schleunigst umfangreiche Schutzmaßnahmen konzipieren sowie - sobald und sofern rechtlich irgendwie möglich - Franco A. exmatrikulieren. Volle Solidarität mit den Forderungen des AStA der Universität Frankfurt nach Schutz vor Franco A.! Gegen jeglichen Faschismus und Rechtsextremismus!

Solidarity with the demand of the AStA of the Goethe University Frankfurt for protection concepts against right-wing extremist Franco A.

In July, it was revealed that Franco A., a German military officer suspected of terrorism, was enrolled at Goethe University Frankfurt. He is currently on trial for having possessed (or possessing) explosives, weapons and ammunition, and for having planned (or planning) terrorist attacks. His views are undoubtedly right-wing nationalist and racist. The right-wing extremist network of police officers and soldiers, of which he was a part, was preparing for "Day X", i.e. the fascist takeover. In addition, Franco A.'s admiration of Hitler and his enthusiasm for antisemitic and racist conspiracy ideologies are well known. It is also no secret that he had drawn up a "death list" with several names of left-wing and social-democratic politicians on it. [1] If Franco A. is not in custody until the winter semester, which is planned in presence, concepts for the protection of people must be available, says the AStA chairperson Kyra Beninga. The law student Bella Launer adds that in a seminar with a right-wing extremist ready for violence open discussion ist restricted. [2]
We support these criticisms and stand in solidarity with the AStA of the Goethe University Frankfurt. The protection of all students, especially those who do not fit into the world view of right-wing extremists, should be a matter of urgency - as well as the not only verbal, but practical positioning of all social institutions against the right. Especially in this case, where the right-wing extremist ideology is so obvious and the threat to students so great, we must not look the other way. In addition to the great physical threat posed by Franco A., we see the influence he exerts on university discussions in an anti-democratic, latently racist direction as a danger that should not be underestimated. Therefore, a rethinking is needed on the part of the presidency of Goethe University. Empty phrases about a supposed positioning against "extremist and terrorist attitudes" [3] are of no use as long as no measures are taken and the law students cannot study without danger for themselves and fellow students. By the way, we consider the reference to criminal prosecution as a sufficient means to be absolutely insufficient, as can also be seen from our statement on sexualized violence. [4] The need to study safely and without experiencing violence is not only valid against the background of a legal conviction. If Goethe University cares about its students (especially its racialized and Jewish students), it must immediately develop appropriate protective measures and - as soon as and as far as legally possible - exmatriculate Franco A. Full solidarity with the demands of the AStA of the Goethe University Frankfurt for protection against Franco A.! Against all fascism and right-wing extremism!
